TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) - A concert by Elton John has given Israelis a boost after a string of cancellations by other world-famous artists.

The British rocker performed late Thursday in front of a screaming crowd of nearly 50,000 fans at a Tel Aviv stadium.

John, who wore blue-tinted sunglasses, told the audience those cancellations "ain't gonna stop me from playing here, baby."

Recent cancellations by the Pixies and Elvis Costello, who cited Israeli government policies, have added to Israel's growing sense of isolation.

John swiped at those artists, saying, "We do not cherry-pick our consciences," before hitting the opening chords of his 1972 hit "Crocodile Rock."

It looks like almost everyone is on the bash Israel band wagon these days but Elton is stepping outside the box, I say good for him! He also played at Rush Limbaugh's wedding, he also said that Rush and his new wife are going to stop by their place in England to have dinner there the next time Rush is over there. Clap

*sigh* No Sue, I wish. Although this weekend I SHOULD be able to get about 80% of it back, just not the last 6 months or so. I'm going to wait until this weekend so that I can take my time and HOPEFULLY do it right. Eyes I have to work today so wont be back till later this afternoon.

Does that mean I can start over with the trivia questions and no one the wiser Whistle

Elton John is Jewish isn't he? I thought I heard that somewhere, I could be wrong. Good for him, maybe he is seeing the light.

He is Jewish Shelle but even the American Jews are bashing Israel, it's like we're re-living history where everyone is turning on the Jews for protecting themselves. They have a right to protect their home and the Palestinians are being deliberately sleazy by pushing the issue of going through the Gaza Strip to try and provoke them into something. Of course everyone is buying the sympathy game that the Palestinians are playing now when in fact THEY provoked it all.
Oh and no you can't start over, I wiped out the forum not everyone's memory. Whistle Ang Grin I'm in the process of hunting down the backups now. Whistle
Who does Israel belong to?

An Israeli Sense of Humor at UN set the record straight.

An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the United Nations Assembly and made the world community smile.

A representative from Israel began: 'Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Moses: When he struck the rock and it brought forth water, he thought, 'What a good opportunity to have a bath!'

Moses removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Palestinian had stolen them!

The Palestinian representative jumped up furiously and shouted, 'What are you talking about? The Palestinians weren't there then.'

The Israeli representative smiled and said, 'And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech...'.
