I don't know why this angers me

because it's just another every day occurrence where government waste is concerned. Anyway, I was reading where welfare recipients could access money at strip club ATMs, remember last week it was casinos? Well what the heck difference does it make when they're able to access CASH anywhere anyway, as evidenced at the states own website. I found zip codes for CA and typed in a few and it brings up a ton of sites where welfare recipients can go to access cash.

here

zip code list

Why don't the states just make the cards only accessible to grocery stores, for NECESSITIES only and gas stations etc. Why do they have to make cash available to them? Geez if only *I* were dictator for a few years, we'd have this mess cleaned up in NO time. Whistle Cheesygrin

Oh here is the link to the strip club story if anyone is interested.

RE: I don't know why this angers me

I just find the way government hands out money to people without even checking to see if they really need it is beyond stupid. Now to find out that these welfare people are spending it like this just shows that they DON'T need it. I see more people around town who are on welfare and they spend their food stamps on the most expensive cuts of meat and brand name everything and on things that I wouldn't buy because of the cost but yet they don't apparently understand the "stretching the dollar" to get the most out of it.

When you grow up with the government paying for everything I suppose that when you're an adult you look for ways to cheat the system too. Just imagine if all these people spent their time looking for a job instead of spending their time figuring out ways to con the system. Badword

I remember years ago when I was a kid, we were really poor so my mom went to try and get food stamps and the guidelines were so strict that she eventually just gave up. Now it's so easy a freakin' rock could get welfare and food stamps if someone would just throw it through the window.

They need to go back to giving out commodities, it is hard to get money for canned meats, beans, cheese, flour, sugar, powdered eggs and canned vegetables and fruit. And baby food if needed.

When they went to food-stamps and then to those cards all they did was make it easy to use the money for what it isn't meant to be used for.

In 69 we were told to go starve, our crime, we were white and married. I had a broken back, Gary had just started his job and wouldn't be paid for 3 weeks because of the way the pay period was. We didn't have a dime to buy milk for two babies or food for us. All we wanted was help until we got our first paycheck and that was all. No, like I said (oh they didn't say it was because we were white, but it was implied) white and married (this one they said out right). If it hadn't been for neighbor for neighbor I don't know what we would of done.
